Getting Ready!

Image
Finally....after spending four summers down in Nicaragua we are taking our mission to the next level. What an adventure! It's hard to believe that one family vacation turned into a life's mission and soon we will be down in Popoyo full time. I miss the feel of Nicaragua. It's hard to explain if you've never been down there. But for those of us lucky enough to know Nicaragua then you know what I mean when I say it has "a feel." A slower speed, more time to be present in the moment. There is nothing like driving down a dirt road in Nicaragua, windows down weaving your way through the trees heading to the coast. We are in the process of selling, moving or giving away all that we have accumulated in Sarasota, Florida. Now if it was just a matter of  household "stuff"...no problem. But it is oh so much more. Try selling 50,000 books before you leave. We have been blessed with a donation. More than 50,000 books! What an overwhelming and amazing gift....

Covered Up

As I think about my life and this world we live in I am always confronted with this feeling of discomfort and sadness with the way so many see life. I know that Jesus is the way, the Truth, and the Light. I would be lost without him in this world.....actually, I have been. When I look around at what’s on TV or the radio, the people I work with and the way they live their lives (or not) it leaves me with a question. Why? Being a Christian and knowing that feeling of peace and trust that comes with a relationship with Jesus Christ I wonder if some of the people I associate with will ever get it. But the fact is so many of us live our lives Covered up in the darkness of this world. It is so easy to hide in TV shows and dream of the lives we wish we had or the...

God-Who Knew

As we come into this world we don't have a choice on who are parents are or how they are going to raise us. So many in this world like myself end up on the down side of this where there isn't any God or faith in the family. We end up searching for friends and relationships to fill that space our parents have left. We end up using everything we can to fill the void left, either other people or substances.  But for some of us that make it through this find that God has been with us all along.  As we travel down all these hard roads and experience the pain and lonlieness of this world he is preparing us for his great works.Ephesians 1:11 In him we are also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will. 12) In order that we, who were the first to hope in christ, might be for the praise of glory. Ephesians 2:1 As for you , you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you us...

Those Crazy Kids!

Michael and I had the pleasure of driving 13 boys over to Orlando for Rock the Universe this past weekend in the "man van."  The van was packed with teenagers which means high octane energy. To add to the excitement we were unable to get the air-conditioner fixed before the trip. We were sweating before we even got out of the 360 Church parking lot! I have to hand it to them though....the boys took it well. We were blessed with their vocal talent with a rendition of "Lean on me" Which was swiftly followed by a water gun fight. Who knew I would be happy to get squirted. Very refreshing!! After a quick Chic-Fila stop we hit Universal Studios. Some amazing concerts that night; Skillet and Jars of Clay. The Rockin Roller Coaster was AMAZING!!!! Michael and I managed to get on right away. I heard the kids had to wait 1-2 hours. The best concert by far was Toby Mac. It just doesn't get any better than the energy this group brings to the stage! The trip was a...
